The Vision Support Team (V.S.T.)

The Vision Support Team supports pupils of Secondary School age who are on Specialist Placement at Uddingston Grammar School because they have a moderate to severe visual impairment. Typically, pupils who attend UGS on Specialist Placement would live in South Lanarkshire or North Lanarkshire.

Pupils from other Local Authorities are also able to attend, subject to:

• Agreement between a Local Authority and South Lanarkshire Council's Inclusive Education Service.
• Available spaces.

In line with our Mission and Aims, we want to provide pupils with:

• The very best and highest quality of support to enable them to access the curriculum and their learning.

Which:

• Is planned around the pupil's full needs.
• Is guided by the voice of the pupil.
• Is delivered alongside their peers in the wider school.
• Is the most inclusive and least intrusive.

The V.S.T. comprises of:

• Teachers of the Visually Impaired
• School Support Assistants
• A Braille Transcription Officer

The V.S.T. is led by the Principal Teacher of the Vision Support Team:
